More Building – Less Limitations

When you’re comparing different types of construction, it becomes clearer as to why most

commercial industries go with steel structures as their building mode of choice. There are many

advantages that steel has over other materials like wood or concrete that cause them to come

up short in many ways.

Shapes

Just due to the nature of the material, steel will be able to do things and create building shapes

that are nearly impossible with wood or concrete without incurring major costs. While complex

engineering isn’t completely outside of the realm of possibility for materials like wood, it presents

new challenges and will likely make your project extremely expensive. Instead of trying to go

that route with wood, concrete or less durable metals like aluminum, stick to prefabricated steel

structures to get the job done.

Cost Savings

Steel buildings come with cost savings that allow you to invest any unused funds back into other

parts of your project. These savings come mainly from the fact that each of the pieces are

partially built in a factory before being shipped to your build site – meaning you’re not spending

extra money on raw materials only to later cut and discard large parts of it. Having some of the

pieces ready to go also greatly speeds up the construction process, saves you money by only

needing general contractors and also helps you avoid weather delays that may occur when

building a structure from the ground up.

Durability

Steel by its very nature is an extremely strong and durable material, able to stand up to all types

of weather conditions and so much more. From high winds, severe rainfall to heavy snow, steel

structures can stay in great condition regardless of the environment. It’s also resistant to

moisture, leaks and pests, meaning it’s not susceptible to rotting, mildew and termites like

wood-built structures, for example.

Interiors

With buildings made of other materials like wood, it’s much more difficult to have an interior

space that is fully open and flexible enough to be broken up and partitioned in so many ways.

Our prefab steel structures are free from the obstructive support beams that are common in

wood-built structures especially. These beams can end up dictating how the space has to be

laid out, whether or not that’s what you had in mind. Depending on what the building is being

used for, having the full space open for customization is imperative to its functionality.

Expansion

Another great benefit that steel structures have over other types of construction is how easy it is

to add more space at a later time should you ever need it. It’s always important to go into any

project with the full scope of your needs in mind, but there are situations where needs change

during or even long after a building project is complete, and it’s much easier to accommodate

that change with a building method like prefab steel than with wood or concrete. Where other

methods would require lots more in time, money and plenty of initial demolition, prefab steel

makes for a much simpler expansion or renovation process.
